Come Celebrate 20 Years with Caza Ladrón

Caza Ladrón, based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, celebrates its 20th season this year. Founder Guy McElvain began foxhunting in New Mexico in the 1970s with his parents, who introduced the sport in New Mexico over 50 years ago. Today Masters McEvain, Brian Gonzales and Richard Patton keep the tradition alive and vibrant. The pack of Crossbred, English and American hounds is now based at HIPICO Santa Fe, a multipurpose horse facility near Santa Fe.

Toronto and North York Hunt Celebrates 175 Years of Sport

This year the Toronto and North York Hunt celebrates 175 years of sport, longer than Canada has been a nation. To commemorate this historical event an Invitational Joint Meet was held Saturday, October 27th from the Toronto and North York Hunt kennels in Mulmur, Ontario and our fellow Canadian hunts were invited to attend. As of Friday, October 26th we were expecting over 70 riders and an additional 30 guests for the complimentary breakfast, a lot of pressure for our huntsman, Rosslyn Balding and our hounds to perform!

Toronto Hunt Celebrates 175th Anniversary

The Toronto Hunt celebrated its 175th anniversary in style on July 26 at its spectacular facility overlooking Lake Ontario. Toronto & North York Hunt (ON) members and hounds were invited to participate in the celebration. Huntsman Rosslyn Balding, assisted by Teresa Robinson and Laura Balding, brought three couples of hounds with them, including 2017 Canadian Foxhound Champion, Blue Ridge Wentworth '15. The hounds were a hit and everyone wanted photos with them. Numerous guests asked if we could come and hunt as there are numerous foxes and coyotes roaming the golf course.

Arapahoe Hunt Remembers Longtime Member Sylvia McDonald

The eldest riding member of the Arapahoe Hunt (CO), Sylvia McDonald, died October 4 in Denver at age 91. Born January 7, 1926 in Boston, Massachusetts, she was pictured at age 3 in the Boston Evening Transcript holding up the blue ribbon in the Youngest Rider class at a horse show in nearby Milton. Bracketing a lifetime of equestrian success, another win came in the Hilltopper’s Hunter Pace at Arapahoe Hunt, 80 years later at age 83.

Nancy Weaver Celebrates 90th Birthday With Kimberton Hounds

On July 29th, longtime Kimberton Hunt (PA) member, Nancy Weaver, observed her 90th birthday by riding out at hound exercise. Her daughter, Sally Weaver, commented, "While it has been at least 30 years since my mother has ridden, it does not look like she lost her seat. Since her birthday fell on a hound walking day, she was generously offered the use of Chief by the Dunn and Mueller families. Chief is a steadfast mount for the youngsters of their family."

Henry Hooker, Hillsboro Master and Sporting Icon, Passes Away

As an entrepreneur, executive, sportsman, family man and friend, Henry Williamson Hooker left a legacy of vision, enthusiasm and warmth. He passed away at home following a long illness on Monday, April 24, 2014. Mr. Hooker was born in Nashville on April 14, 1933, to the late civic leader Darthula Williamson June and the late John Jay Hooker Sr. a prominent Nashville attorney.
